Greetings Monte Vista Families,
I am excited to be joining the incredible staff of Monte Vista Elementary as your new principal, starting this Monday, November 5. I would like to thank our staff and interim principal, Karen Burke, for leading us into a fantastic school year!
We are off to a great start this Fall. PTA did an amazing job putting on our Fall Carnival. I had the pleasure of attending with my daughter, and was so impressed by the efforts of our PTA and volunteers to create a truly special event. Our students are now busily preparing for their student-led conferences next week. This is such an important opportunity for students to share their learning, goals, and progress with you. If you do not know your child's conference day/time, please contact their teacher. I look forward to seeing all of our families on campus for conferences next week!
I am especially glad to be a part of Monte Vista. I have worked in Vista Unified for over a decade, most recently as the assistant principal at T.H.E. Leadership Academy. I have also served the district as a content coach and classroom teacher. Vista is dear to my heart, I grew up attending Vista schools and met my husband Jackson at Rancho Buena Vista High School. Jackson is also an educator in Vista Unified, and happens to be a proud alumni of Monte Vista! When we are not at school, Jackson and I are very busy chasing around our three young kids.
Together, we will continue refining our vision for student leadership and learning, which includes partnerships with No Excuses University and The Leader in Me. It is going to be a great year!
